Each year, students from the Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics are taught to design, choreograph, construct, produce and perform their own original ballet. This program is made possible through a partnership between The Children’s Aid’s Society and the prestigious American Ballet Theatre (ABT).
"Make a Ballet" culminates with a student performance before an audience of parents and classmates at their school and at the Metropolitan Opera House.
In addition to encouraging dance appreciation, Make a Ballet introduces students to the world of professional dance from both the stage and behind the scenes through field trips to ABT Studios and viewing of ABT performances at venues throughout New York City.
