Making the Case for Community Schools

The first part of making the case involves thoroughly understanding the Community Schools concept. We encourage you to read The Children's Aid Society's books: Building a Community School (2001) (click here for free download) and Community Schools in Action: Lessons from a Decade of Practice (2005), available from Oxford University Press.
Another part of making the case is understanding the research that undergirds the community schools approach. To download a fact sheet on this research, click here. Then you should begin to create a vision for your own school and community about how you will adapt these ideas to your local circumstances.
