Steps to Success
Steps to Success, a mentoring program for second, third and fourth grade African American males of Harlem, celebrated the achievements of its participants at a Closing Ceremony on June 14th at Teachers College, Columbia University. This ceremony marks the end of the first year of this program. During the ceremony, the boys shared what they learned and their favorite aspects of the program to an audience of family members, teachers, volunteers, and funders. Awards were distributed to the boys who had the highest grades, best program attendance, and passion for community service. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed lunch while viewing a gallery of the boys' artwork at Teachers College.
Steps to Success is a part of The Children's Aid Society African American Male Initiative (AAMI). AAMI is developing ways to combat obstacles and chart paths to success for young Black males.
