The New York Times launched the 2008-09 Neediest Cases campaign on November 9 with a theme story about foreclosures and subprime mortgages that featured three cases from The Children’s Aid Society. Children’s Aid is among the seven New York charities that benefit from the Times’ annual fundraising campaign; the funds raised are used for emergency assistance of all sorts across the agency. Until early February, daily stories will appear in the newspaper and online; the stories reveal the plight of low-income New Yorkers and how the money or goods received helped them overcome obstacles. Please read this season’s stories from Children’s Aid and the other agencies here.
