Children’s Aid Society Middle School Campers in Washington Heights Celebrate “Summer of Champions”

What:
Sixty Children’s Aid Society campers aged 10-14 will participate in a special day of sports and mental calisthenics to cap a “Summer of Champions” spent learning about the Olympics and sportsmanship.
Right before the Beijing Olympics close on Sunday, these middle school students will reflect upon and celebrate their own summer activities. All the children studied the Olympics through three themes: arts/culture, media/advertising and sports/fitness/nutrition.
9:00 a.m. – Campers start the day by reciting the Olympic Oath
9:30 – 10:00 – Olympic Trivia
10:00 – 10:30 – Medicine Ball Throw
10:30 – 11:00 – Olympic Spelling Bee
11:00 – 11:30 – Two-on-Two Basketball Game
11:30 – 12:00 – Jump Rope and Sponge Relay Race
Ribbons will be awarded to students after each activity.
