Children’s Aid Students and Parents Travel to Albany to Advocate for After-School

A vocal group of 20 students, parents and staff from four of Children’s Aid’s community schools - Mirabal Sisters Campus and P.S. 8 in Washington Heights and I.S. 98 and C.S. 61 in the Bronx - participated in this year’s After-School Advocacy Day in Albany on February 24th.

Organized by TASC (The After-School Corporation), Advocacy Day rallied concerned New Yorkers from across the state to meet with their elected officials in Albany in support of after-school funding. The Children's Aid Society contingent met with Senators Bill Perkins and Ruben Diaz, Sr. and Assemblymember Michael Benjamin and staffers from Assemblymember Herman Farrell’s office, eloquently explaining why after-school programs are so important to them individually and as a community.
