Advocates and Parents Rally for Green Carts at City Hall
February 27, 2008
On February 25th, C. Warren Moses, Children’s Aid’s CEO, and families from the East Harlem Center joined other Green Carts advocates on the steps of City Hall for a rally.
The New York City Council is considering legislation that would create 1,500 new permits for Green Carts that sell fresh fruits and vegetables on the streets in low-income neighborhoods. Many families in these neighborhoods do not have access to quality, affordable produce, contributing to health problems from obesity to heart disease.
