Knicks and Garden of Dreams Celebrate Week of Giving at The Children's Aid Society

The New York Knicks and the Garden of Dreams Foundation will tip off the New Year by hosting a Week of Giving for Tri-State area children in need. The Week of Giving will include food deliveries to three area agencies and will culminate with a party for more than 300 children and families from Garden of Dreams community organizations The Children’s Aid Society, Loisaida and Harlem Dowling at Madison Square Garden.

During the months of November and December, Knicks fans were encouraged to donate food and non-perishable items to the Knicks, Garden of Dreams and City Harvest food drives at MSG. The collected foods will be hand-delivered and a dinner will be hosted by Knicks players beginning on Monday, Jan. 8 at The Children’s Aid Society’s Dunlevy Milbank Center in Harlem. The events will continue on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at Loisaida, Inc. and Thursday, Jan. 11 at Harlem Dowling. The week will conclude on Friday, Jan. 12 when the Knicks will host a party for more than 300 children from these agencies and invite them to attend that night’s game versus the Charlotte Bobcats.

Below is an itinerary of events for the Knicks and Garden of Dreams Week of Giving:

Monday, Jan. 8, 4:00-6:00 p.m. @ The Children’s Aid Society’s Dunlevy Milbank Center, 14-32 West 118th Street, New York, NY
WHO: Nate Robinson and Jared Jeffries
WHAT: Will personally deliver food to Children’s Aid Society and host a catered dinner; players will serve dinner to more than 100 kids and provide them with autographs and goodie bags

Tuesday, Jan. 9, 4:00-6:00 p.m. @ Loisaida, Inc., 710 East 9th Street, New York, NY

WHO: Renaldo Balkman and Kelvin Cato
WHAT: Will personally deliver food to children and families from Loisaida, Inc. and host a catered Spanish-themed dinner; players will serve dinner to 40 children and provide autographs and goodie bags

Thursday, Jan. 11, 4:00-6:00 p.m. @ Harlem Dowling, 499 West 133rd Street, New York, NY

WHO: Channing Frye and Mardy Collins
WHAT: Will personally deliver food to children and families from Harlem Dowling and host a catered dinner; players will serve dinner to 40 children and provide autographs and goodie bags

Friday, Jan. 12, starting at 5 p.m. @ The Theater at Madison Square Garden

WHO: Children from above agencies
WHAT: Party in their honor and tickets to Knicks versus Bobcats game

Garden of Dreams Foundation, a non-profit charity that closely partners with all areas of Madison Square Garden, launched this fall with a commitment to "make dreams come true for kids in crisis." Partnering with organizations dedicated to helping children facing enormous obstacles, Garden of Dreams conducts events and programs that seek to brighten the lives of children facing illness, homelessness, abuse, hunger and poverty.
