Kick Off for Miracle on Madison Avenue's 20th Anniversary

NEW YORK, May 16 – A pre-Mother’s Day shopping event at CALYPSO Christiane Celle at 815 Madison Avenue netted nearly $10,000 for The Children’s Aid Society’s health programs, the charity’s CEO, C. Warren Moses, has announced. Christiane Celle, the creative and business inspiration behind the Calypso stores, added a $5,000 donation to the proceeds from the event, bringing her total donation to Children’s Aid to just under $15,000.

May 11 was the day on which the CALYPSO store donated 20% of the entire day’s sales to The Children’s Aid Society, to celebrate the store’s opening as well as the 20th anniversary of Miracle on Madison Avenue, the annual holiday charity shopping event that benefits The Children’s Aid Society’s health programs for children. Miracle has raised nearly $6.3 million since its inception. The store also hosted a reception that evening.

“We are delighted to forge a relationship with Christiane Celle, a woman who cares deeply about children in poverty,” stated Children’s Aid’s Moses. “Her very generous donation and her agreement to serve on our Miracle committee make a wonderful start to this year’s Miracle on Madison Avenue and will help us assist more children.”

On Sunday, December 3, 2006, over 125 restaurants, galleries and retailers from 57th to 86th Streets on Madison will donate 20% of the day’s sales to Children’s Aid, and part of the Avenue will be closed to traffic for added festivities, the only day on which such a closure occurs on Madison Avenue. CALYPSO’S two locations on Madison Avenue will participate in the event in December.

The Children’s Aid Society (CAS) was founded in 1853. It is one of the nation’s largest and most innovative non-sectarian agencies, serving more than 150,000 of New York’s neediest children and their families with a network of services that includes community schools, neighborhood centers, camps, adoption and foster care services, teen pregnancy prevention, education, health and recreation. CALYPSO Christiane Celle, high end Fashion, Beauty and Home Accessories Retailer, will soon have 30 stores worldwide, 17 of which are located in Manhattan. CALYPSO Christiane Celle recently opened a five-floor concept store at 815 Madison Avenue in a space formerly occupied by Versace. For more information, visit www.calypso-celle.com.
