What:
Approximately 400 summer campers from Children’s Aid Society (CAS) locations across the city will gather at CAS’ Goodhue Center on Staten Island for a performance by The Red Storm Drum and Dance Troupe.

These children have spent their summer studying Native American history and culture at Children’s Aid Society camps, proving that learning doesn’t stop when school lets out.

The Native American curriculum used in the CAS camps seeks to bring those cultures to life through activities such as arts and dance, visits to museums and interaction with Native Americans.

Who:
The Children’s Aid Society is running 20 camps this summer, about half of which are using the Native American curriculum. The students within these camps are divided into smaller groups, each concentrating their studies on a specific Native American tribe or nation within the United States.

The Red Storm Drum and Dance Troupe, based on Staten Island, includes members of many different Native American heritages. They seek to educate the public about Native American culture through music, dance and stories. For more information, visit >a href="http://www.redstormdrum.com">www.redstormdrum.com.
