Goldman Sachs Sponsors Children’s Aid Society Street Festival

When:
Saturday, June 25, 2005
10:00 am – 1:00 p.m.

Where:
The Children’s Aid Society (Project Bold site)
486 Howe Avenue, between Lacombe Avenue and Norton Avenue
Bronx, NY 10473

What:
Approximately 30 Goldman Sachs employees will volunteer at a company sponsored community street festival at one of The Children’s Aid Society’s locations in the Bronx.

The festival will include fun summertime activities such as a barbecue, arts and crafts, DJ and rides for children, as well as the chance for volunteers and members of the community to make improvements to the block by planting flowers and trees.

Community activities such as these are a key component of service learning for high school students from The Children’s Aid Society’s Project Bold. The teens are expected to help beautify the block with plantings.

Who:
In collaboration with the New York City Department of Education, The Children’s Aid Society’s Project Bold serves at-risk high school students by addressing their multiple needs and recognizing that learning is influenced by ongoing experiences within families, schools and communities. Project Bold strives to enhance the intellectual, social and emotional development of students so that they can succeed in school and the larger community.
