Next Generation Center
The Next Generation Center (NGC) is a one-stop center designed to meet the needs of young people transitioning to adulthood and self-sufficiency.
The mission of NGC is to provide support, guidance, training and opportunities to young people, ages 14 to 24, in the Bronx — with a special focus on youth in foster care and those who have aged out of foster care.
We offer youth leadership and life skills training, technology instruction, job readiness & job development services, educational guidance & tutoring, legal advocacy, housing assistance, creative and visual arts, and recreation.
Members of the NGC also have access to medical and dental services at the nearby Children’s Aid Society Family Center.
HOURS OF OPERATION: The Next Generation Center (NGC) is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 8pm.
NGC's day program runs from 10am to 2:30pm each day and serves young people, ages 18-24, who are out of school and not working. It consists of intensive life skills, job readiness workshops & job development services, and group discussions. Participants are taught to problem-solve and advocate effectively. Staff are also available to meet one-on-one with young people for individualized attention and/or counseling sessions.
NGC's after-school program runs daily from 2:30-8pm. After-school programming serves young people ages 14-21 and combines life skills instruction, job readiness workshops, group discussions, creative arts and leadership training.
During the summer (July-August), NGC hires 30-35 young people for its Summer Institute and places another 30-40 young people in off-site internships.
