Medical Services

Every child who comes into one of The Children's Aid Society's clinics receives comprehensive, confidential and coordinated examinations and treatment. Children are assigned to a primary care provider who serves as his or her "medical home." Adolescent-friendly services including confidential gynecological and family planning services are also available at all sites.

Pediatricians from Mount Sinai Medical Center and The Children's Hospital at Montefiore, in collaboration with nurse practitioners, provide the majority of our medical services. Most specialty and in-patient services are referred to Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian Hospital or The Children's Hospital at Montefiore, depending on a family's location.

Whereas our school-based clinics serve their school communities, Children’s Aid’s community-based clinics are open to the public and accept most forms of private insurance and all forms of public health insurance. Health insurance enrollment services, through our Health Care Access Program, are available on site.

Children in foster care have unique health considerations. Their psychosocial needs must be addressed along with their case planning and legal guardianship requirements. Teams of health and social workers work together to ensure each foster child receives the appropriate care.
