The New Acting Company
The New York Times raves that The New Acting Company is..."scrupulously faithful...completely original...and will easily appeal to theater goers!"
Laurel Graeber of the New York Times says of 2008's Alice In Wonderland
..."this production is so visually rich and energized that children unused to unadulterated Alice-isms aren’t likely to mind that a lot of the dialogue is jabber — or “Jabberwocky,” ...The Caterpillar alone is worth the price of admission..."

A message from the Artistic Director:
Welcome to The New Acting Company
Seven years ago I was hired by The Children’s Aid Society to create a “New” acting company for The Greenwich Village Center. With a student base of 70 children per semester and no professional production in place, my work was cut out for me.
I am honored that The New Acting Company today has grown to a student base of over 160 students per semester and our professional productions have been recognized by The New York Times, Time-Out New York, New York One News—Parenting Report, The Villager, The New York Post and New York Family. We continue to be cited as an outstanding theater company producing top quality family theater for all ages in Greenwich Village.
This year I am ecstatic to report that our adaptation of The Jungle Book (2005) and our original production Once Upon a Pandora's Box (2007), written by our Resident Playwright Monica Flory, have been published by Playscripts, Inc. This is just another confirmation that we are producing new and vital dramatic works.
We continue to break records in enrollment as we further develop our lively after-school and evening acting programs. Our classes were designed to grow with your child’s age and skill level. For example, a student starts our program at age three with Storybook Theater, then progresses to Young Actors Workshop, Actor’s Studio and finally to The Advanced Acting Playlab and Pre-Teen Showcase. In addition, hundreds of adults have attended our extremely popular Adult Acting Series and participated in our annual professional Off-Broadway productions. All of our instructors and assistants are highly trained theater professionals who bring considerable teaching and acting experience to each class. I strongly believe that by working closely with all members of the industry, we provide our students with the truest sense of life in the theater.
Watch as our 2007-2008 season blossoms and promises once again to entertain, educate and enrich. Our highly anticipated professional production will be an outrageous pop-up adaptation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Auditions for new company members will be held in February with the production
slated to run in the Spring of 2008
Thank you for supporting our program for the past seven years and a sincere welcome to our new members. The New Acting Company has become known for its vibrant classes and high quality family productions. We will continue to be a fun, safe and creative place for students of all ages to explore the world of acting.
