About Our Program
The Early Childhood Program in the Philip Coltoff Center at Greenwich Village is designed to meet the increasing capabilities of children from birth to 3 years old in an age-appropriate manner.
Most classes have a Lead and an Assistant Teacher, with a maximum of 12 children per class. Our staff is a caring and energetic team who work together to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for your child. An adult must accompany each child and participate in class. Our unique Step-Up Kids program offers two year-olds the choice of a 2 day per week slow separation process class. Fall 2-Day Toddlers classes will turn into Step-Up Kids in the Spring semester. Please note that students who are not enrolled in the Fall 2-Day Toddler or Step-Up Kids classes may not enroll in Step-Up Kids classes in the Spring or Summer semesters. We also offer specialty classes such as Baby Yoga, Spanish and French classes, Toddler Literacy, Sibling classes, Kindermusik and Toddler Gym which focus on specific skills, and allow for choice of various classes throughout the week. The Early Childhood Program focuses on social skills and encourages a sense of class community. Our programs work on process, not product, and allow the children to learn through play.
We understand that many parents have rigorous work schedules. We offer an evening event each semester so that the entire family can visit our facility and socialize with the staff and other families in the Early Childhood Program. Our strong parental involvement fosters a close-knit community environment in which lasting friendships continue to grow.
There are many opportunities to be a part of The Philip Coltoff Center at Greenwich Village as a whole, including the Parent Committee and our various fundraising events such as the Harvest Fest, Children's Carnival, and the Adult Auction and Benefit.
