The Jungle Book-Spring 2005

The New Acting Company presented Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book in a new adaptation by Monica Flory, directed by David Miller. In this imaginative re-telling of the classic tale, the lush sounds and sights of the jungle are evoked in ways that are uniquely theatrical. Defiant and proud Mowgli, a boy raised by wolves, is coming of age in the jungle-a place where he both does and does not fit in. I am ecstatic to report that our adaptation of The Jungle Book (2005), written by our Resident Playwright Monica Flory, has been published by Playscripts, Inc.
Once Upon a Mattress-Spring 2004

In 2004 we were very excited to collaborate with the CAS Chorus. Our fantastical family series continued with a hilarious journey into the musical world of kings, queens and knights. Prince Dauntless the Drab was desperate to nab a wife! When Princess Winnifred showed up from a neighboring swamp to woo the Prince, the evil Queen Aggravain (played by Artistic Director: Stephen Michael Rondel) hatched a ridiculous plan that was sure to back fire! This musical theatre classic was a delight for the whole family with its clever servants, quirky lovers and of course plenty of riotous song and dance!
Wild Thing - Spring 2003

An original play inspired by Maurice Sendak's classic children's storybook. Max, played by Artistic Director Stephen Michael Rondel, is the world's funnest stay-at-home dad because he refuses to grow up. Merriment turns into mayhem and dreams become reality as you join Max in this WILD adventure filled with monsters, mischief and magic.
The Lady Winter- Spring 2002

Our fantastical family series continued with a heartwarming tale of loneliness, everlasting friendship, and love. Inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson story, young Gertie must find her best friend Jay before he spends all eternity lost under a spell. It was a world of adventure as entertaining and familiar as New York City.
Green Eggs and Silly Cats - Spring 2001

This collaborative "readers theater" style production comprised a tight ensemble playing numerous roles; from talking objects and animals to human and cartoon characters. "Readers theater" is a concept which invites all actors to share in the dialoque, often together like a chorus, or individually, using single words or phrases. The effect is imaginative, fantastical and guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages.
