Advocates criticize Cuomo's changes to tobacco control funding (2/22/13)
The groups released statistics that showed about 10,000 New Yorkers are ill and dying from cancers caused by smoking while funding for "tobacco control" programs to discourage smoking remain on the chopping block.
"New York's tobacco control program currently is budgeted at $41 million and its funding has been cut in half since 2008," the Cancer Society said in its analysis.
