A Celebration of Giving

Nick Hurley was motivated by The Children’s Aid Society’s dedication to serving children after learning about our mission while collecting donations for The New York Times Neediest Cases Fund. Nick began to encourage his friends to establish relationships with Children’s Aid and four years later those relationships continue.
In December 2008, Nick Hurley, Matt Verrochi, Gray Smith, Nick Seminara, and Joe Steffa hosted the Fourth Annual Irving Holiday Gala, a holiday celebration to benefit The Children’s Aid Society.
The Irving Holiday party hosts are a group of young professionals in their 20s who moved to New York from across the nation. They decided to host a holiday party to celebrate the season with their New York network of friends and colleagues. In addition to having a good time, they wanted “something good to come out of it,” said Nick Hurley. They have succeeded; in the last four years they have raised over $25,000 to support the vital services Children’s Aid provides to children and families. While the event hosts are the driving force behind making this annual party a success, everyone involved in the event from guests to the staff at the venue, supports the goal to make charitable donations that support New York City’s neediest children.
