The Children’s Aid Society Douglass Panthers

The Children’s Aid Society Douglass Panthers at the Frederick Douglass Center is New York City's premiere girls’ high school basketball team.

Sports programs help girls develop the self-esteem needed to achieve their goals.

The Panthers program extends beyond mere sport. Basketball creates a safe space for young women while communicating a message of empowerment, academic achievement, resiliency, self-esteem, teamwork and hope. This helps girls expand their horizons, achieve their dreams and succeed in college and beyond.

The Frederick Douglass Center’s coaching staff is proud of its homegrown team. Most Panthers team members first learned to play basketball at the Center’s Saturday basketball program for neighborhood boys and girls. More importantly, these young women have parlayed their high team ranking and athletic ability into college scholarships.
