Children's Aid Celebrates National Volunteer Week

A REASON TO SMILE
Milder temperatures, blooming trees & flowers, and the reemergence of outside activity are all reasons that April brings a smile to many New Yorkers. The Children’s Aid Society also has great reason to smile: OUR VOLUNTEERS! From April 20th to April 26th,2008, we mark the thirty-fourth year anniversary of National Volunteer Week.

With well over 1000 Direct Service, One Time, Corporate and AC Volunteers placed throughout the course of the year, The Children’s Aid Society recognizes the valuable contribution that each volunteer brings to the table. Every hour spent with a child, every pair of hands used to beautify one of our schools or centers, every resource contributed, and every connection made is what makes all the difference.

Here are just a few of the sentiments iterated by a few of our youth:

“They’re always there for me.”
“They help you when you are in need of help—with your homework, when you are feeling down, or when you need advice.”
“I could not picture my life without her.”

Our volunteers are incredible—they come in with passion, dedication, and expertise to help motivate and rejuvenate with fresh ideas. They come from all over the city—and even the world, bringing a variety of ideas from multiple backgrounds and life experiences. Volunteers feel strongly about making personal connections and really want to help make a difference!

The Children’s Aid Society thanks each and every one of our amazing volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty for their time and what they bring every day. Happy National Volunteer Week!
