Health and Preventive Services
Health Services
The Frederick Douglass Center makes referrals to health services and clinics and receives visits by The Children's Aid Society Mobile Dental Van.
Our mental health services include a full-time social worker and a partnership with a neighboring mental health clinic. Both individual and group counseling sessions are available to the center's children and parents.
All of the health services accept both private and public health insurance. The center also provides enrollment officers through the Children's Aid Health Care Access Program [link] to help children and families enroll in Medicaid and Child Health Plus.
Visits to the clinic are by appointment only. Call (212) 865-6337.
Preventive Services
By working directly with the parents who are in danger of losing custody of their children, the Preventive Services program aims to prevent troubled families from entering the foster care system.
